American coin silver mug or cup having repousse floral, shell and scroll decorations by Baily and Co. of Philadelphia, c.1850. This exquisite mug has repousse floral, shell and scroll decorations on the body, surrounding a reserve containing the inscription Mary Cornelia Gowdy as well as complementing uppe and lower rims of die rolled shell decorations. This desirable cup is 4" tall, 3" in diameter, 4 1/2" across the handle and weighs 156 grams or 5 ozs. Troy Inscribed as described above, the excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering. The soft, warm, original antique finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
